About The Author

Dr. Shanita Brown is Teaching Assistant Professor of Counselor Education at East Carolina University and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. She is the owner of a private practice with over 20 years of clinical experience in the mental health field, and a sought out speaker. Dr. Brown has delivered workshops nationwide, advocates, faith communities and professional athletic organizations. Her work has been featured in scholarly articles, podcasts and media outlets such as Checkin In with Michelle Williams, Bravo's Married to Medicine, Dr. Jackie's Point of View, Essence, Parents and Therapy for Black Girls. Dr. Brown enjoys the beach, exercise and time with family and friends.
